MENDON — Two marijuana dispensaries are proposed in Mendon for locations that are less than 3 miles away from one another
One dispensary is proposed for 103 Uxbridge Road (Rte. 16), where a vacant, three-bedroom home sits on a 1.23-acre lot. The project’s applicant, Vishnubhai Patel of JDM Sales Inc. of Bellingham, wants to demolish the home and construct a 3,200-square-foot retail marijuana dispensary, according to site plans submitted to the town in October.
The site is zoned within a general business district and is down the road from George’s Surf & Turf (116 Uxbridge Road) and Hide-A-Way Pizza (95 Uxbridge Road).
The project is projected to cost $1 million and construction is slated to begin in December. Once a building permit is secured, the goal is to complete construction after nine months. A site plan has been approved, and during a public hearing for the project on Feb. 8, a special permit was approved.
The business also received its provisional license from the Cannabis Control Commission last month. From here, the business will undergo a preliminary inspection through the CCC, and after changes have been made, it’ll return for its final inspection.
