GREENFIELD — A marijuana dispensary is no longer in the works for the property on Woodard Road, near the Interstate 91 rotary.
According to Planning and Development Department Director Eric Twarog, Pleasantrees — a Michigan-based company that provides medical and recreational marijuana — no longer has an interest in developing 8 Woodard Road as a marijuana retail dispensary. The host community agreement between the company and the city was terminated in August.
A “For Sale” sign has since been posted at the property.
The project, which included the demolition of two houses at 4 and 8 Woodard Road at the start of 2021, was originally approved in 2020 so that Herbology Group Inc. could build the facility. However, Herbology Group decided against moving forward and Pleasantrees received a permit in March 2020 from the Zoning Board of Appeals to build there.
Pleasantrees currently has a recreational store on Northampton Street in Easthampton, with plans to expand into Amherst on Amity Street, according to its website.
Twarog said Patriot Care on Chapman Street is the only marijuana dispensary that is operational in Greenfield. The
