Casper police arrested two people from North Dakota on Wednesday who were driving a stolen car to Denver.
Authorities pulled over a Ford Taurus about 12:30 p.m. at East 12th and Durbin streets because they were concerned about the car’s registration tags.
Officers learned the driver, Jennifer Michelle Cobb, 33, was loaned the car from Budget Auto in Jamestown, North Dakota, but hadn’t returned it on time.
Cobb told officers she was given the loaner car to drive while her minivan was being repaired. But the owner of Budget Auto told police Cobb was to return the Taurus by Sept. 13 and that he reported the car stolen three days later.
Police found a bag of marijuana and a pipe in the Taurus. Cobb was arrested for grand larceny, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. Her passenger, Jason Kyle Edwards, 34, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and interference.
The Department of Family Services placed a 4-year-old boy who was in the car in protective custody.
