A 26-year-old Rochester man was arrested in connection to a search warrant executed earlier this month.
Police responding to a report of a suspected drug transaction arrested Edward Gildersleve Monday at around 10:30 p.m. The call was to the 1500 block of North Broadway, in the parking lot of the shopping center near Silver Lake Foods and Burger King.
When an officer stopped a vehicle near the scene, they found Gildersleve inside and arrested him
after finding a bag containing 73 Tramadol pills without a prescription. Rochester Police Department Capt. John Sherwin noted that the car also smelled of marijuana.
Sherwin said that police were looking for Gildersleve in connection to search warrant executed earlier this month at an apartment in northeast Rochester. There, authorities said at the time they were seeking electronic evidence in connection to a recent shooting. Inside the apartment, authorities found nearly 50 grams of cocaine and a stolen handgun from North Dakota.
Sherwin said Gildersleve has previous encounters with law enforcement and is well-known to authorities. Gildersleve faces a charge of fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. He remains in custody.
