An Erie County grand jury indicted two Sandusky residents this month for allegedly selling heroin that led to a fatal overdose.
Chauncey Mix, 32, of the 1300 block of Tyler St., and Reena Saleh, 31, of the 1400 block of Clinton St., were each indicted on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. Mix also received an additional heroin possession charge.
In early December, Mary Weirzba, 39, died a few days after she suffered a heroin overdose at Mix’s Tyler Street home, according to Sandusky police.
A few weeks later, Mix and Saleh were arrested.
Sandusky police Detective Rob Bess learned both were allegedly involved in the sale of heroin to Weirzba on Dec. 3 after questioning several people in the home at the time of the incident.
Weirzba injected it at the residence, then was dropped off at the doors of Firelands Regional Medical Center by Mix in the midst of her overdose.
Last week, a grand jury saw fit to indict both for their alleged involvement.
Mix now remains behind bars at the Erie County jail. Saleh has since posted bond, according to jail records.
An indictment is a formal charge and does not denote guilt or innocence.
