PENNINGTON COUNTY – Two Minnesota residents are behind bars after authorities discovered 85 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Pennington County Thursday.
According to a release, Songying Lao, 50, of Minneapolis and Yia Yang, 41, of St. Paul, were traveling east on Interstate 90 when they were stopped for speeding at mile marker 70.
A sheriff’s deputy noted the smell of marijuana and, after further investigation and a search of the Toyota Tundra they were traveling in, discovered the drug.
Both are facing offenses of possession of marijuana more than 10 pounds and intent to distribute one pound or more of marijuana.
