KEARNEY — More than $10,000 in cash, drugs and assault weapons were seized Friday from a Kearney house.
The residents – Joshua G. Ross, 19, Elijah Alexander Cortez Thompson, 18, and Dakota W. Welsh, 20 – were each arrested after Kearney Police served a search warrant on their home in the 1400 block of East 42nd St. The men each face a mix of drug- and weapon-related charges in Buffalo County Court.
According to court records, when police searched a basement bedroom belonging to Ross they allegedly found several plastic bags containing more than two pounds of suspected marijuana, along with an AR-15 rifle, assorted items of drug paraphernalia and a currency counter.
In Thompson’s upstairs bedroom police allegedly found several plastic bags containing more than 20 pounds of suspected marijuana, more than $400 in cash, a pump action shotgun with ammunition, assorted items of drug paraphernalia and a vacuum bag sealer.
In another upstairs bedroom belonging to Welsh police seized several plastic bags containing more than two pounds of marijuana, a cardboard box containing several individually wrapped THC concentrate packages, more than $10,000 in cash, an AK-47 and AR-15 rifle with ammunition, a digital scale and assorted items of drug paraphernalia.
The men were all present when the warrant was served by members of the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force, and were taken into custody without incident. The investigation continues.
Current charges are:
– Ross: felony distribution of marijuana and felony distribution of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an infraction.
